Enable Dark Mode on Discord
Discord is a cross-platform communication app, so it is available on the Web, as a Desktop app on Windows, Linux, and Apple macOS, Smartphones including Android and iOS. I have provided the needed steps for all these platforms to enable the dark mode no matter how you use Discord.
Enable Dark Mode on Discord Web
Let’s first start with the Web; Discord has a fully functional web app. Any browser of your choice can access it. If you use Discord on your browser, below are the steps to enable dark mode on the web app. Step 1: Visit Discord on your Web Browser and tap on Open Discord in your browser button. Enter your Discord login credentials or Login by scanning QR Code if you have the Discord app on your smartphone. Step 2: Once you are logged in to your Discord account. Tap on Gear (User Settings) icon in the bottom left corner. Step 3: On the Left Sidebar, you will find an Appearance option under App Settings; tap on it. Step 4: Under Appearances, you will see a Theme section with three options Dark, Light, Sync with Computer. Select Dark to turn on the Dark Mode. If you want the dark mode to be synced with your computer’s dark mode settings, select the Sync with your Computer option. Bonus: You will also see a Dark Sidebar option under Theme. If you only want to enable dark mode for the sidebar, turn on the toggle. That’s it; you are done. You have successfully enabled dark mode on the Discord Web App. If you change your mind and want to switch back to Light Mode, you have to follow the same above steps and select the Light option under Theme.
Enable Discord Dark Mode on Desktop
It is okay for casual Discord users to use it on a Web Browser. Hardcore Discord users will better prefer the proper Desktop app. Whynot when Discord offers Desktop apps for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Most of the Discord users are on Windows. Still, I have provided steps for Windows as well as macOS.
Windows
If you have the Discord app installed on your Windows PC and you want to turn on the dark mode while keeping the system-wide appearance to light, then below are the steps you should follow. Step 1: Open the Discord Desktop app on your Windows PC. Step 2: Tap on the Gear (User Settings) Icon in the bottom left corner next to the headphone icon. Step 3: In the Discord Settings area, tap on Appearance under App Settings. Step 4: On the next page, you will see a Theme with three options: Dark, Light, Sync with the computer. Tap on Dark to enable the dark mode immediately. If you want to set the Discord app to Sync the theme with your computer, select the Sync with the computer option. Step 5: Lastly, turn on the toggle next to Dark Sidebar if you want the Sidebar to be in dark mode. That’s it; by following the above steps, you will be able to turn on Dark Mode in the Discord app on your Windows PC. macOS If you are one of the few Discord users using it on macOS, you can enable dark mode by following the below steps. Step 1: Open the Discord app on your Mac running computer. Step 2: In the Discord, app look for a gear icon in the bottom left corner of the screen and tap on it. Step 3: On the Discord Settings page, tap on Appearance under App Settings. Step 4: In the Appearance settings, you will get three different Theme options: Dark, Light, Sync with the computer. Select the Dark option to change the theme of the Discord app immediately. If you want the Discord dark mode to be synced with your Mac system-level dark mode, go with the Sync with computer option. Bonus: A few of you might be happy with a Dark Sidebar; if you are one of them, turn on the toggle against it to enable dark mode for Sidebar. That’s it. This is how you can set the dark mode on the Discord app on macOS. The steps are pretty much the same as the Web and Windows apps.
Enable Discord Dark Mode on Smartphone
I know most of you use Discord on your smartphones. You can’t sit on your desk to keep using the Desktop app. Discord has an app for both Android and iOS. Whether you use the Android or iOS app, you can enable the dark mode by following the below steps.
Android
Many smartphone users are on Android so let’s first start with Android. Interestingly, the default Dark Mode Discord has an experimental Super AMOLED Dark Mode for Android users. I will also explain how you can turn it on. Step 1: Open the Discord app on your Android smartphone. Step 2: Tap on the profile icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Step 3: Scroll down to the App Settings section and look for the Appearance option. Select Dark to turn on Discord dark mode on Android. The Discord dark mode is greyish. It is not the proper Pinch Dark mode we have on many apps. If a user has a premium smartphone with AMOLED Display, the greyish dark mode will not make sense. That’s why Discord is testing an experimental AMOLED optimize mode. Here is how you can activate the Hidden Discord AMOLED Dark Mode on Android. Step 1: Open the Discord app and go to Appearance settings, following the steps mentioned above. Step 2: Under Appearance settings, first select the dark mode and tap on it ten times to unlock the hidden AMOLED Optimized mode. Step 3: Turn on the toggle right to it, and the dark mode will immediately change to a Pinch dark mode. Congratulations, you have successfully activated the Hidden Discord AMOLED Dark Mode on Android.
iOS
The Discord app comes with Dark Mode enabled by default on iOS. But changing the system-level dark mode changes it sometimes. If you have an iPhone and want to turn on Dark Mode on the Discord app, follow the below steps. Step 1: Open the Discord application on your iPhone. Step 2: Tap on your profile picture icon in the bottom right corner. Step 3: Scroll down to App Settings and tap on Appearance. Step 4: You will get three different theme options: Light, Dark, Automatic. Select Dark if you want to turn on the dark mode immediately. If you wish Discord to follow iOS Dark mode settings, select the Automatic option. You can also turn on the toggle next to Sync across the client option to overwrite the Discord appearance settings everywhere, be it your other smartphone, computer, or web app.

I have explained how you can enable the Discord dark mode on all these platforms. You can also follow the provided steps to turn on the dark mode on the device of your choice. If you have an Android smartphone, you can also activate the hidden AMOLED optimized dark mode by following the steps provided above in the article.
