The micro-blogging platform is trying to change this situation by adding new features related to Direct Messages. Last year, Twitter added an option to Pin Direct Messages, but the feature was only available to Twitter Blue subscribers. Today in a surprise move, Twitter has made this feature available to all the users. The feature is already rolling out to Web, Android, and iOS. If you send regular Twitter messages and feel the inbox cluttered, you can Pin up to 6 messages as Pinned Conversations. In this article, I have explained how to pin direct messages on Twitter.

Pin Direct Messages on Twitter

The ability to pin direct messages on Twitter is not limited to any one of the platforms but is available everywhere on the Twitter Web, Android, iOS, and Desktop app. You can pin direct messages from today no matter where you use Twitter. I have explained the steps for all the platforms, follow them, and make your Twitter inbox a better place to communicate.

On Web

Many Twitter users use it on the web interface. That’s why Twitter has made the feature available on the web as well. I have tested it, and it is already rolling out. Below are the steps you can follow to pin direct messages on the Twitter web. Step 1: Open any web browser on your computer or smartphone and Twitter. Enter your Twitter credentials to log in first if you are not logged in. Step 2: Once logged in, tap on Messages from the left sidebar. Step 3: In the Twitter inbox, select the chat you want to Pin to the top and tap on the three-dot (More) icon in the upper right corner of the conversation. The icon will appear when you will hover on the chat. Step 4: After it, tap on the new Pin Conversation option. Once you pin a conversation, a new Pinned Conversation section will be added to the inbox. You can pin as many as six chats as of now, and all of them will appear in the Pinned Conversation section, and you can easily access them. The unpinned conversations will move to a new All Conversations section. If you want to unpin a conversation, then follow the same above steps and tap on Unpin Conversation, and it will be moved to All Conversations. The steps are straightforward, and you will easily pin conversations.

On iOS

Many Twitter users use it on their iPhones, even product managers of Apple competitors. Many Twitter features the first land exclusively on iPhone. However, the Pin Conversation feature is not limited to iOS. If you are interested in pinning a Twitter conversation on iOS, then below are the steps you need to follow. Step 1: Open the Twitter app on your iPhone. Step 2: Tap on the message icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Step 3: In the Twitter inbox, right swipe on the chat you want to Pin and tap on the Pin icon appearing on the screen. Step 4: Once done, a new Pinned Conversations section will be added, and the pinned conversation will start appearing there. The remaining conversations will appear as All conversations. By following the same steps, you can pin six conversations to the top if you wish to unpin a chat, swipe right, and tap on the icon appearing on the screen.

On Android

Twitter is known for leaving new features on Android, but this time the company has added the Pinned Conversations feature on Android at the same time as iOS. If you use Twitter on Android and looking to test the Pinned Conversations, below are the steps you should follow. Step 1: Open the Twitter app on your Android smartphone. Step 2: In the Twitter app, tap on the message icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Step 3: Once you are in the inbox, press and hold on to the chat you want to Pin. From the on-screen options, tap on Pin Conversation. Step 4: After you pin a conversation, a new Pinned conversation will bed created. It will house up to six pinned chats. The remaining conversations will be moved to All conversations. That’s it; this is how you can pin direct messages on Twitter on Android. The steps are almost identical to Web and iOS, with a slight difference in how the option will appear on the screen.

Final Words

Twitter has finally started taking Direct Messages seriously. Last year the company acquired collaboration and communication-focused app Quill. I suspect the move to bring the pinned conversations and now rolling out to every user is due to this acquisition. In my usage, I liked the new Pinned conversations feature. Earlier it was hard to scroll down to a chat in the Twitter inbox. Now I can easily pin my frequent conversation to access them easily. What do you think about the Pinned Conversations features on Twitter?
