Earlier, Dark Mode in Google search was limited to a few browsers, but now it is available to almost every web browser. So no matter where you use Google search, you can enable dark mode with ease. You can do it on your computer as well as your smartphone. Below are the steps for both Desktop and smartphones; follow the one you wish.

Turn On Dark Mode on Google Search on Desktop

Although more and more users are still using Google search on mobile, plenty of users perform Google search on Desktop. If you use Google to search on Desktop, you can enable dark mode to relieve your eyes from white light. I have provided three ways to enable dark mode in Google search on desktop. Step 1: Open any web browser on your Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chrome OS running computer and visit the Google website. Step 2: On the Google homepage, you will find a Settings option in the bottom right corner; tap on it. Step 3: A pop menu will appear on the screen. Among those options, you will get a Dark Theme option. It will be showing as Off by default; tap on it. Once you tap the Dark Theme option, the Google search page will get refreshed, and after it, Google search will be in Dark Mode. The above steps work well, but many users say there is no Dark Theme option when they tap on Settings on the Google search homepage. If you are facing similar issues, follow the below steps. Step 1: Tap on the Settings option on the Google Search homepage and tap on Search Settings. It will be the first option in the pop menu. Step 2: Under Search, Settings tap on Appearance in the left sidebar. Step 3: In the Appearance Settings, tap on Dark Mode and tap the Save button. Step 4: You will get a prompt, “Your Preferences have been saved.” Tap on OK. Other than the above ways, there is one more way you can enable dark mode in Google search. The above two ways require you to visit the Google search homepage and enable dark mode, but you can also turn on dark mode from any Google search query page. Below are the steps you will need to follow. Step 1: Open any web browser on your computer and perform a Google search. Step 2: On the Google search result page, tap on the Gear icon in the top right corner. Step 3: You will also get an Appearance section under Quick settings. From there, select the Dark theme.
