Change IP Address on iPhone
There are mainly two ways to change the IP address on iPhones. You can either request your Wi-Fi Router to assign a new IP address or manually set a static IP address of your choice. I have explained both the ways below in the article. You can follow any one of them and change the IP address on your iPhone.
Renew Lease
Among the possible ways to change the IP address on iPhone, the easiest one is Renew Lease. When you Renew Lease on your iPhone, the device sends a request to your Wi-Fi router to assign a new IP address. Most of the time Renew Lease option works well to change the IP address on iPhone. However, it doesn’t guarantee that a new IP address will be assigned to your iPhone. Your Wi-Fi router might give the same old IP address again. Below are the steps to Renew Lease on iPhone. Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on Wi-Fi. Step 2: On the Wi-Fi Settings page, you will see the Wi-Fi network you are connected to. Tap on the blue “i” icon next to your Wi-Fi network. It will take you to your Network page. Step 3: Under the Network Settings page, scroll down to the Renew Lease option and tap on it. Step 4: A prompt will appear; tap on Renew Lease to give the final confirmation. Once you follow the above steps, your iPhone may get a new IP Address. Static IP Address
If you have tried the Renew Lease option to change the IP address on iPhone but have not been able to do so. The confirmed way to change the IP address on iPhone is by assigning an IP address manually. In this way, you decide the IP address you want to use and then send the IP address request to your router. However, it is essential to add here that you might see some IP conflict issues if other devices on your Wi-Fi network use the IP address you want to use on your iPhone. To solve the IP conflict, you can either use an IP address different from your current IP address pool. Follow the below steps to assign a static IP address on iPhone. Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone and select Wi-Fi. Step 2: Once you are on the Wi-Fi Settings page, tap on the i icon next to your connected Wi-Fi network. Step 3: On the Network page, scroll down to the IPV4 Address section. Step 4: Under the IPV4 Address section, the first option will be Configure IP. By default, It will be Automatic. Tap on Configure IP and change it to Manual. Step 5: A Manual IP section will appear when you select Manual IP. You will get three fields to fill: IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Router. Step 6: Enter the Static IP address you want to use on your iPhone in the IP address field. After it, fill the Subnet Mask and Router fields. If you don’t know what to enter there, get back one screen, and you will see the details in the IPV4 Address section. Step 7: After entering all the details, tap on Save in the upper right corner.
